MOLARÁ

Who runs the world? Girls!

When Mother’s Day 2020 rolled around, Minnevangelist teamed up with new Minneapolis-based apparel brand MOLARÁ to give away a top with the ultimate message in female empowerment: “Strong Women, Strong World.” ⁣💪🏾💪🏻💪🏿💪🏼⠀

MOLARÁ was co-founded by mother-daughter team Omolara and Maama. Omolara was born and raised in Nigeria but relocated to the United States as a teenager; Maama is still based in Lagos. In addition to running a busy household (five kids and eight adults!), being active in her local community, and “looking amazing in traditional African prints,” Maama taught Omolara some pretty important lessons over the years: Among them, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness; education is a priceless gift that no one can take away; have faith in God and trust in his plan; and anything worth doing is worth doing well.”⁣⠀

The duo launched MOLARÁ in July 2019 with a focus on colorful hair accessories made by artisans in Nigeria, plus their signature line of “Strong Women Strong World” apparel. The latter includes cropped and standard sweatshirts, pre-shrunk T-shirts, and youth tees and baby bodysuits with equally fierce messaging (“Strong Woman In Training”). Giving back was important to both mother and daughter, so a percentage of proceeds are donated to women battling cancer.⁣⠀
⁣⠀
We love supporting women-owned businesses and brands that celebrate mothers, grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, sisters, cousins, aunts, friends, girlfriends, neighbors, wives, work wives, and all the other women who consistently make the world a better place. MOLARÁ sells its “Strong Women Strong World” tops at Statement Boutique in downtown Minneapolis, as well as the occasional pop-up market. If you’re mostly sheltering at home, shopping online is always an option, too.
